The Better Ballot Glendale Election Reform Meetup
|
Registered voters residing within the city limits of Glendale are invited to a "drive up" event where volunteers will meet them at their cars so they can sign the Better Ballot Glendale Ranked Choice Voting Initiative petition through their car window and then be on their way. Ranked Choice Voting allows the voter to indicate their first, second, third... choices from among the candidates running for a given office. If no candidate wins a majority of first choice votes in the first counting, the candidate receiving the least number of votes is dropped from the race. A second round of counting is then conducted with the votes being credited to each voter's most preferred candidate still remaining in the race -- in essence an INSTANT runoff. If necessary, this process is repeated until one candidate has received a majority of the vote and is declared the winner. RCV eliminates the need for costly run-off elections and ensures and preserves majority rule. Volunteers are welcome! www.betterballotglen dale.org or 623-399-7920 for info.
